The Position

We are at Roche investing in the support for the country safety staff and, in that context, are recruiting for a new role, the Regional PV Head APAC. The incumbent will have an opportunity to drive the implementation of a positive wave of change across his/her region that includes increasing regional support staff and hubs, enhanced talent development practices, a targeted change and communications program, and changes in how the global teams partner with the regions and affiliates towards mutual success.

The incumbent will be a member of the International PV Leadership team, reporting into the Global Head of International PV, who is a member of the Global Drug Safety Leadership team. He/she will also be a member of the Regional Medical Compliance Office, reporting (matrix) to the Regional Medical Director, who is a member of the Regional Leadership Team.

Leading a team of sub-regional leads and Hub managers, this role will be:

  • Overall responsible for the region’s Patient Safety strategy and its operational execution, in partnership with the overall Regional Head, the Regional Medical Director, the General Managers and Country Medical Directors.
  • Overall responsible for the PV hub strategy, it’s implementation and successful delivery of all hub activities, ensuring effective partnership with the General Managers/Country Medical Directors in affiliates serviced by the PV hubs.
  • Overall responsible for the functional recruitment, resourcing and talent management strategies for all safety staff in the region, including in the affiliates, ensuring effective partnership with the General Managers/Country Medical Directors.
  • Overall responsible for maintaining a holistic and comprehensive oversight on the robustness of the PV system across the region and the design and implementation of the PV compliance strategy. Responsible for escalating compliance concerns to the global function and Regional Medical Compliance Office (RMCO), where the incumbent represents the Global Safety function.
  • Overall Responsible for the change strategy towards the global safety vision for risk management, in partnership with the medical affairs organization, and ensuring the prompt spreading of best practices across the region. 
  • Overall responsible for the PV policy strategy in the region

Who You Are

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) or corresponding professional experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years clinical research, development, or related field including a minimum of 5 years experience in Drug Safety at the affiliate and/or regional level. 
  • Significant experience in people management including experience in leading in an extensive matrix environment.
  • Experience in managing and /or overseeing regional PV hubs preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging with health Authorities.
  • Proven ability in senior stakeholder management (Senior Vice President, Vice President and Director level) and ability to effectively influence and collaborate across cultures in a large global organization.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; exhibits professional maturity, executive presence, confidence, and competence. Skilled in summarizing and communicating key points and business cases.
  • Considerable organization awareness (interrelationship of departments, business priorities, including significant experience working cross-functionally and in global teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of  PV, GVP, ICH-GCP and other relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Well-versed in medical and safety aspects of FDA, EMEA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Is able and willing to undertake frequent international travel (up to 40%)
