The Position


Perform all aspects of the credit and collections functionfor a portfolio of customer accounts while understanding the complexities ofthis customer facing role. This includes detailed credit reviews for new andexisting customers using advanced financial analytics to determine creditlimits, partnering with internal stakeholders to settle disputes, monitoringcustomer credit exposure and minimizing risk, collection and resolution of pastdue receivables, deductions management, and reconciliation adjustments, customerset-up and customer master maintenance.  Mayalso perform extensive cash and DSO forecasting while producing monthly andquarterly reports for distribution to Senior Management. 

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Daily management of order release function and ensurecustomer is within assigned tolerance of approved credit limits and termsextended.
  • Adhere to corporate policies and controls in place whileserving as a change agent to make sure we evolve with the business.
  • Provide financial guidance for order management support withsupply chains and marketing units to control credit use while minimizingdispute and upholding effective payment.
  • Use of advanced financial analysis in order to determinecreditworthiness of customer base and assign appropriate credit lines inconjunction with objective risk determination.
  • Monitor public customers with high exposure to assure early detectionof financial distress.  
  • Establish strong partnerships with key internal organizations.  Understand the sales and distributionstrategies while delivering credit recommendations which balance the businessneeds with the financial risk of our customer base.
  • Act as reporting liaison to industry credit group.
  • Develop direct relationships with the management of keycustomers in order to determine growth strategies and future credit/demandrequirements while promoting contract compliance.
  • Represent Genentech during negotiations of disputed impasseclaims.  Formulate negotiation strategyand execute on that strategy to not only collect on the items in question, butto help avoid repeat situations.
  • Manage the Customer and Credit Masters within SAP as itpertains to Customer Finance.  Coordinatewith Contracts and Customer Service to ensure account setups are correctlymapped within the system with special attention paid to parent/childrelationships and “bill to” and “ship to” linkage.
  • Coordinate with various departments to resolvereconciliation issues, short payments, cash application issues, billing issues,customer inquiries and collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Respond timely to customer inquiries concerning billing andother issues and work closely with various groups to resolve them.
  • Participate in major department projects and take an activerole in cross-functional teams to assist in driving quality improvements,processes, and initiatives.

This position is not eligible for relocation.

Who You Are


  • Bachelor’s degree required; major in accounting, finance, orother business-related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in credit management or financialanalysis, NACM certificate preferred
  • Understanding of financial statements and the analysis usedto determine creditworthiness
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlinesin a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with above average data miningabilities
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision
  • Superior written and verbal communication with above averagepresentation skills
  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
  • SAP experience a plus
