We have an opening for a talented Senior Scientist or Associate Director to join our Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department. The successful candidate will support biologics drug discovery for all of our disease indications. More specifically, the individual will lead the development and execution of relevant functional and bioanalytical assays to support antibody and protein therapeutics development in the context of multidisciplinary project teams. Responsibilities include designing, developing and implementing functional assays for antibody screening and optimization as well as quantitative assays for characterizing PK and biomarker PD to support in vivo studies. The candidate will function as part of a multi-disciplinary project team that will coordinate with antibody engineering, protein chemistry, and in vitro and in vivo biology, PK and safety groups to advance lead molecules of the projects. In addition, the candidate will manage PhD scientists and their research associates in supporting programs.
The qualified individual will possess a Ph.D. in protein chemistry, immunology, cell biology or a related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience in biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry. Practical experience in the design, development, validation and execution of in vitro functional assays as well as bioanalytical assays for protein therapeutics is required. Experience with commonly used qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods and software is required. The qualification also requires familiarity with the multi-disciplinary activities of protein therapeutics drug discovery process. Familiarity with automated or semi-automated instrumentation, while not required, would be advantageous. Experience in leading multi-disciplinary project teams is also a plus. Solid publication track record is required. The position requires a strong managerial track record (experience with directly managing 3 or more PhD Scientists (and their respective teams) is required for Associate Director role; 1-2 for Sr. Scientist), good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
