Genentech’s intern and co-op programs, recognized among the industry’s best, provide students with hands-on biotechnology experience. They offer unparalleled learning and networking opportunities, as well as the ability to contribute to meaningful projects and work side-by-side with biotech experts.
We offer paid internships in three California locations - South San Francisco (our headquarters), Vacaville, and Oceanside - as well as in Hillsboro, Oregon. Most internships take place in the summer and are typically 10-12 weeks (and occasionally last up to one year). We recruit interns for many functions across the company.
Our Cooperative Education Program gives students the opportunity to supplement their education with valuable hands-on experience and training. Co-ops are paid and are typically 6-12 months. You must be enrolled in at least six units in an academic program related to the Co-Op project and must receive course credit for the co-op.
Our summer intern job postings generally begin in November of the previous year and run through the end of March. Selections for internships vary by position, but are generally made during January through April. Although we do hire interns throughout the whole year, the majority of our interns are hired during the summer. Our interns may qualify and are given strong consideration for full-time opportunities, including rotation programs.
Genentech holds recruitment sessions at a number of university campuses in spring and autumn. Internship opportunities are also posted at select universities. You can also check out our internship and co-op opportunities on gene.com. Our hiring managers contact prospective candidates directly.
