Genentech Promotes Marty Glick to Treasurer

South San Francisco, Calif. -- August 7, 1990 --

Genentech, Inc. today announced the promotion of Marty Glick to the position of treasurer. Glick, who has been with the company three years, is responsible for all treasury and company-wide tax activities. Glick most recently was the company's director of tax.

Prior to joining Genentech in 1987, Glick was director of tax planning at Levi Strauss & Co. for seven years, including three years in their European headquarters in London. Prior to that he worked in Chicago, Toronto, and San Francisco as a senior tax manager for Arthur Andersen & Co., an international public accounting firm.

Glick, 41, is a certified public accountant and a chartered accountant (Canada). He holds a master's degree in finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
