Genentech Promotes Marty Glick to Vice President and Treasurer

South San Francisco, Calif. -- July 31, 1991 --

Genentech, Inc. announced the promotion of Marty Glick to vice president and treasurer. Glick, who joined Genentech in 1987, is responsible for the company's treasury and tax activities.

Glick's most recent position was treasurer. He joined the company as director of tax.

Prior to Glick's employment with Genentech, he was director of tax planning at Levi Strauss & Co. for seven years, including three years in their European headquarters in London. Before that he worked in Chicago, Toronto, and San Francisco as a senior tax manager for Arthur Andersen & Co., an international public accounting firm.

Glick is a certified public accountant and a chartered accountant (Canada). He holds a master's degree in finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

Mr. Glick is married to Judy Zollman, a literacy consultant with the Oakland Public Library and member of the Piedmont Library Commission. Their daughter Michele Glick, 11, will attend Piedmont Middle School this fall, and son Ari, 9, will attend Havens School.
