South San Francisco, Calif. -- March 31, 1992 --Gregory Baird has joined Genentech, Inc. as vice president of corporate communications.
Baird came to Genentech from Searle (Chicago) where he served as vice president of corporate communications for more than four years. Before that, he was vice president and director of health care communications at Hill and Knowlton's New York headquarters. Other communications positions he has held in health care public relations include senior manager of medical communications for Pfizer; senior account executive at Burson-Marsteller (New York); and director of health education and public information with the Suffolk County Department of Health Services.
"Effective communication with our diverse audiences is an increasingly important component of our business strategy at Genentech," said G. Kirk Raab, Genentech's president and chief executive officer. "We are extremely pleased to add Greg Baird, a proven communicator in the health care field, to our group of officers."
Baird received a master's degree in public affairs and a bachelor's degree in health education from SUNY at Stony Brook.
