South San Francisco, Calif. -- June 7, 1994 --Genentech, Inc. announced the promotion of Polly Moore and Robert Garnick to vice president. Moore, who joined Genentech in 1982 was named Vice President, Information Resources, and Garnick, who joined Genentech in 1984 was named Vice President, Quality.
Moore's responsibilities include handling all aspects of information resources, including operations, systems development, networking, microcomputer support and micrographics. She is also responsible for the Library and Information Services Department and the company cafeterias and travel office. Her most recent position was Senior Director, Information Resources. She joined the company as Senior Systems Analyst in Scientific Computing.
Prior to Moore's employment with Genentech, she was with Merck, Sharpe & Dohme and at Boeing Company. Moore holds a bachelor's of arts degree in Mathematics from Oberlin College, a master's of arts degree in Mathematics from Wesleyan University and a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Washington.
Garnick is responsible for the biochemical and microbiological evaluation of all of Genentech's marketed and clinical development products. His most recent position was Senior Director, Quality Control. He joined the company as Manager of Quality Control.
Prior to Garnick's employment with Genentech, he was at Armour Pharmaceutical Company and Merrell National Laboratories. Garnick holds a bachelor's of science degree in chemistry from Rutgers University and a doctorate in organic chemistry/natural products from Northeastern University.
