South San Francisco, Calif. -- April 6, 2000 --Genentech, Inc. (NYSE:DNA) today announced the appointment of R. Guy Kraines as vice president of Finance. He will report directly to Louis J. Lavigne, Jr., executive vice president and chief financial officer.
"Guy brings significant expertise to Genentech," said Lavigne. "With over twenty years of progressive experience in the high-tech, logistics and transportation sectors and demonstrated collaborative and team-building skills, I am confident he will be successful in this visible, critical position."
Kraines joins Genentech having most recently been the vice president and treasurer of CNF Transportation, Inc. in Palo Alto with responsibility for Capital Markets, Global Treasury, Tax, Risk & Insurance and Real Estate.
At Genentech, Kraines will be responsible for the Treasury, Tax, Risk & Insurance, Purchasing and Real Estate departments.
Along with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, Guy also holds two Master of Science degrees -- one in Operations Research, as well as another in Statistics, from Stanford University.
