South San Francisco, Calif. -- May 18, 2000 --Genentech, Inc. (NYSE: DNA) today announced the promotion of Roy C. Hardiman to vice president, Corporate Law. Hardiman will report directly to Stephen Juelsgaard, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
"With ten years of Genentech experience, Roy brings well-rounded and in-depth knowledge of the company and the biotechnology industry to his new appointment as well as superb legal skills," said Juelsgaard.
Hardiman, 40, joined Genentech in 1990 as corporate counsel and spent eight years in the Legal department. Most recently, Hardiman served as director and Far East representative of Genentech's Business and Development department.
In his current position, Hardiman has oversight responsibility for all corporate law matters at Genentech, including securities, clinical, sales and marketing, business development, environmental, and human resources.
Hardiman received a bachelor's degree in Pharmacology and a master's degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law.
