South San Francisco, Calif. -- September 26, 2000 --Genentech, Inc. (NYSE: DNA) today announced the appointment of David Nagler to vice president, Human Resources. He will report to Arthur D. Levinson, chairman and chief executive officer.
"David brings a strong track record of success to his new role at Genentech," said Levinson. "His skills are highly complementary to the strong abilities and competence of Genentech's Human Resources staff and I am confident he will continue the momentum of the group with passion and enthusiasm."
As vice president of Human Resources, Nagler will be responsible for leading the design, implementation and communication of all employee programs, and help ensure that the company maintains its positive culture and commitment to being an employer of choice.
Nagler joined Genentech in March, 1995. He most recently served as senior director of State Government Affairs, where he was responsible for Genentech's relationship with state and local governments in all 50 states and for identifying the company's priorities at the state and local level.
Prior to joining Genentech, Nagler was a lobbyist with Nossaman, Guthner, Knox and Elliott and managed the firm's Sacramento office.
Nagler has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and public policy from the University of California at Berkeley.
