South San Francisco, Calif. -- May 15, 2001 --Genentech, Inc. (NYSE: DNA) today announced the promotion of David Ebersman to senior vice president, Product Operations with responsibility for Global Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering and Supply Chain Management. Ebersman reports to Susan D. Hellmann, M.D., M.P.H., executive vice president, Development and Product Operations, and chief medical officer.
Ebersman, 31, who has been with Genentech since 1994, previously held several positions in Business and Product Development. David was named senior director of Product Development in 1998 and vice president in 1999.
"David has made an enormous impact at Genentech as a leader for the Product Development function," said Hellmann. "Under his strong leadership, and with his extensive knowledge and experience, the Product Operations organization will be well positioned to fulfill Genentech's needs now and in the future."
Prior to joining Genentech, Ebersman was a research analyst covering biotechnology investments for Oppenheimer & Co., Inc., an investment banking firm. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and international relations from Brown University.
