Patient Access Programs Genentech is committed to helping patients have access to our therapies. For those eligible patients in the United States who do not have insurance coverage or who cannot afford their out-of-pocket co-pay costs, the company provides several options for support. Since 1985, when our first product was approved, Genentech has donated approximately $1 billion in free medicine to uninsured patients through the Genentech® Access to Care Foundation (GATCF) and other charitable programs. Since 2005, Genentech has also donated more than $140 million to independent non-profit organizations that provide co-pay assistance. Through its Genentech Access Solutions program, the company provides patients with assistance and information on a broad array of coverage, reimbursement and patient assistance services and support.
Charitable Contributions Genentech provides charitable contributions to a variety of organizations through a range of programs, including:
- Contributions and sponsorships to nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations that make a difference in a variety of areas, including improving the lives of patients, furthering research and education efforts and strengthening the communities in which we live and operate.
- Patient advocacy support for organizations and groups that seek to raise awareness of serious illnesses, provide resources and improved care to patients and their loved ones.
- Fellowships in oncology and hematology that provide institutional support to assist applicants who are in accredited postgraduate specialty training programs.
- Research awards for oncology provide support for a variety of research initiatives through organizations (Foundations and non-profits) dedicated to the fight against cancer.

The Genentech Foundation for Biomedical Sciences is an independent, nonprofit organization that supports biomedical education and research in the San Francisco Bay Area, including educational programs at junior high and high schools, colleges and universities, museums, and community organizations.
The Genentech® Access to Care Foundation is a foundation that provides patient access to each of our marketed products. Although Genentech's products are covered by most government and private insurance, we are committed to eligible patients having access to all of our drugs for approved indications.
