Employees in Action
Genentech employees actively support the community through volunteer work. Each year, the company supports several targeted group volunteer activities in support of various health causes and provides material and financial support.
A sample of recent volunteer activities includes:
- San Francisco AIDS Walk
- American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days
- Genentech Climb California
- Susan G. Komen Foundation's Race for the Cure
Employee Giving
Genentech employees also provide financial help to nonprofit organizations that are meeting important community needs ranging from education to social services. Employees' donations are matched by the company dollar for dollar up to $500 per employee. Since the program was launched in 1998, Genentech has matched over $1.5 million in contributions to nonprofit organizations personally supported by employees.

- American Diabetes Association
- Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
- Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS)
- Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties
Community Grants and Sponsorships
Genentech is committed to improving and strengthening the communities in which we live and operate. We demonstrate this commitment by understanding the needs of a community and then supporting organizations and initiatives that are actively working on solutions.
Genentech's corporate giving program involves financial support, in-kind gifts and employee involvement and volunteerism in support of causes that are of the greatest concern to our local communities. We believe in developing and maintaining strong relationships with our local civic organizations, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
