Community Outreach

Genentech believes in building and maintaining strong ties to organizations representing diversity in order to strengthen our company and the communities in which we live, work and do business. Through this strategic outreach, we aim to support diversity efforts in our local communities, influence science as a discipline, assist in recruiting efforts and work towards cultural competency in healthcare. Genentech's Diversity Network Associations (DNA) drive and support community outreach through efforts such as providing mentoring for minority children in local schools, taking part in patient advocacy and participating in fundraising events that support disease treatment, research and education.

Our corporate outreach to our diverse communities supplements the work of our DNA groups and includes:

  • The goal of the Genentech Scholars Program is to provide an inroad for diverse students to gain access to the biotech industry.
  • The Genentech® Access to Care Foundation provides our medicines to uninsured and underinsured patients in the United States, in keeping with our belief that no patient should go without a Genentech product based on financial reasons alone.
  • The Genentech Foundation for Biomedical Sciences is an independent, nonprofit organization that supports biomedical education and research programs for local students in the Bay Area, including under-represented minorities and underprivileged groups.
