Genentech Medicine Approved For Advanced Basal Cell Carcinoma
On January 30, 2012, a Genentech medicine was approved by the FDA for the treatment of adults with a type of skin cancer, called basal cell carcinoma, that has spread to other parts of the body or that has come back after surgery or that their healthcare provider decides cannot be treated with surgery or radiation. OCTOBER

Genentech Medicine Approved in Stomach Cancer
On October 20, 2010, a Genentech medicine was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for stomach cancer. View information and materials.

25th Anniversary of First Product Approval
October 18, 2010 is the 25th anniversary of Genentech's first product approval and the first recombinant biotech drug to be manufactured and marketed by a biotechnology company.

SEPTEMBER

Napoleone Ferrara Named 2010 Lasker Award Winner
Genentech Fellow Napoleone Ferrara is the winner of the 2010 Lasker Award for clinical research, presented annually to an investigator "whose contributions have improved the clinical treatment of patients."

Genentech Goes to Town 2010
In 2010, Genentech Goes to Town takes place September 13 to September 24 in South San Francisco, Vacaville, Oceanside and Hillsboro. The Genentech Goes to Town program supports our communities by providing employees with special "GenenMoney" to spend at local businesses.

JUNE

Genentech Gives Back Week
From June 14 to June 18, 2010, Genentech employees are participating in Genentech Gives Back Week. The week offers voluntary activities each day that help Genentech employees collectively make a difference in our communities. All employees are invited to participate in Genentech Gives Back as their time and interest allows. Monday through Friday's activities include a Share Your Meal program, Auction and Nonprofit Expo, Bay to Beakers Children's Walk, an all-day donation drive, and a volunteer day. APRIL

Hillsboro Operations Ribbon Cutting
On April 6, 2010, Genentech recognized the opening of its operations in Hillsboro, Oregon, home to a state-of-the-art biologic fill/finish facility and warehousing and distribution center. Genentech executives Ian Clark, Chief Executive Officer and Head of North American Commercial Operations; Tim Moore, Senior Vice President, Global Head, Pharmaceutical Technical Operations Biologics; and Barry Starkman, Senior Director, Plant Manager, Hillsboro Operations were joined by Oregon Governor Kulongoski; Senator Ron Wyden; Senator Jeff Merkley; and Congressman David Wu.

Roche Investor Conference
On March 18, 2010, Roche is holding its investor conference in New York. This investor conference is the first following the successful integration of Roche and Genentech.

Arbitration Panel Decision Received in Decision-Making Disagreement Between Genentech and Biogen Idec
Genentech and our collaborator Biogen Idec disagreed over decision-making rights for certain of the next-generation anti-CD20 products under our 2003 collaboration agreement, and the disagreement was submitted to an arbitration panel, which issued a ruling in June 2009.

FEBRUARY

Nature Logo In a paper published in the February 19, 2009 issue of Nature, Genentech neuroscience scientists Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Anatoly Nikolaev, together with scientists from the Salk Institute, provide a new way of looking at Alzheimer's disease.
