"At Genentech, a culture of academic rigor is supported by a world-class drug discovery infrastructure, creating the perfect environment to discover transformational therapies for patients."
I am a trained synthetic chemist turned medicinal chemist and life scientist with special interest in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
I grew up in Bavaria and studied chemistry at the University of Wuerzburg. After earning my PhD degree at the ETH Zurich, I carried out postdoctoral research at Harvard University and began my career as medicinal chemist at Novartis in Cambridge, MA, in 2013. In 2020, I joined the Discovery Chemistry Department at Genentech and have been supporting the drug discovery efforts within the Immunology Department as Senior Scientist and Chemistry Team Leader.
J. Med. Chem., 2020, 63, 14357–14381.
My focus is on designing and making new molecules with the potential to treat diseases. I have worked on modalities that span the chemical space, from mRNA to peptides and small molecules.
At Genentech, I have specialized in drug discovery for immunologic diseases. In addition to research, I enjoy teaching, publishing, and mentoring in various different settings.
