"Helping patients is my mission and innovation is the strategy. Innovating for life is especially meaningful and gratifying."
I decided to join Genentech at 2006 as a scientist. What appealed me particularly to work at Genentech was the casual yet intense science-driven culture. Over the years, I led multiple disciplinary teams in driving projects towards deliveries into our pipeline of experimental therapies. It has been so much fun doing science together with super talented colleagues from all levels.
Today, I am a Principal Scientist and Project Team Lead, mentoring junior scientists and leading teams in discovering therapeutics of novel targets. What we are working on is often very challenging but we are fully motivated by patients who are waiting for breakthrough medicines.
As a medicinal chemist, my focus is to invent novel therapeutic modalities for the treatment of various disease areas through hit identification and lead optimization integrating efficacy, pharmacokinetics and safety profile. The innovation includes new chemical matters and novel mode or mechanism of action. I am also interested in investigating tissue specific delivery to maximize safety margin of effective therapies.
