We’re proud members of the communities where we live and work, and we believe we can have the greatest impact by focusing our efforts at the local level—both through our charitable giving and by empowering employees to give their time and talent.
Since 2010, employees at all Genentech U.S. sites have joined together for our beloved annual week-long Genentech Gives Back program to volunteer and raise funds for nonprofit organizations in our communities. To date, our employees have raised several million dollars and volunteered more than 100,000 hours. In addition, more than 900 nonprofits have benefited from grants, employee donations, and online volunteering during Genentech Gives Back.
Just as our communities evolve, so does Genentech Gives Back. Each year, the program benefits a unique mix of organizations whose values and goals are aligned with our own — advancing diversity in STEM and health equity, and building vibrant communities. In 2021, the program supported Health Career Connection, All In For Kids, Alameda County Community Food Bank, and other organizations located near our U.S. sites.
Whether employees are on site or working remotely, have a few hours or a few minutes to spare, there are plenty of ways to get involved. They might hit the pavement for the Children’s Walk, an annual tradition at Genentech and Roche sites across the world; share their skills at one of the many curated Volunteer Day activities; or buy a t-shirt to support our beneficiaries.
