Helix Cup Documentary: Part 1

The Helix Cup is a four part, hands on science competition among all of the eighth-graders in South San Francisco. The goal of the contest is to show kids what it’s like to use science as a way to solve real world problems.

For the first challenge, students had to design and build a bridge using “everyday stuff.” Kids—with guidance from their teachers, Genentech coaches, and a healthy dose of imagination—became the engineers, architects, and construction crew to realize their vision.
