We believe that our employees' skills, creativity and generosity can impact the communities in which we work and live. In turn, volunteerism increases pride in what we do, helps us grow and connects us to one another.
Offering our time and expertise is one of the many ways we give back. And, it’s through these efforts that we’ve been able to develop some of the strongest connections with our community partners, co-creating ideas and programs to address challenges we are facing together.
Our employees are passionate about volunteering — whether it’s helping a local nonprofit create a business plan, mentoring an elementary school student, cleaning up local beaches, or guiding a group of cancer survivors on an epic kayak journey.
We’re also committed to giving our employees the chance to make an impact on the organizations and causes that mean the most to them. We match employee donations of up to $2,000 per year and we make employees’ commitments in their local communities go farther by matching the time they spend volunteering at $10 dollars per hour – up to $300 – in donations to the nonprofit of their choice.
In 2016, Genentech matched more than $3.6 million in employee contributions to nonprofit organizations.
Through our Futurelab program, employees have opportunities to mentor elementary, middle and high-school age students in our local communities.
A dedicated week where employees come together to donate time, money, and passion to causes we care about.
For more than 20 years, Genentech has worked to increase connections to the local South San Francisco community by providing a small cash stipend to every employee, which they can redeem at a local business or contribute to a local school through our Futurelab program.
