Instagram Story Process Guide

Last updated 8/11/2023

Before submitting any materials over to the social team, determine which Instagram Story format and template you would like to use for your campaign. Check out our Instagram Story toolkit here for templates and guardrails.

*Note: Instagram Stories require a concept review kick off call with the social media team before developing any of the creative assets. The process often requires multiple iterations of storyboard mock-ups so please allow for a minimum of 3 weeks from planning to publishing.

Step 1: Concept Alignment

  1. Submit your Phase 1 Asana form
  2. Hold a kick-off call with the social media team and PR lead
  3. Receive approval on your Phase 1 form from the social media team
  4. Move forward to Step 2

Step 2: Mock-up Story Frames in the Channels Template Deck

  1. Update the channels template deck with your selected template, the subject matter details, and timing of your story
  2. Begin to build out the details for each individual frame of your story, including the copy, audio elements and a static mock-up of the frames
  3. Submit your channels template deck to the social media team using the Phase 2 Asana form and move on to step 3

Step 3: Rework the Story Frames Until Finalized

  1. Social media team to provide feedback in the channels template deck and confirm via email
  2. Pull in the requested feedback into the channels template deck and re-submit via the Phase 2 Asana form . Continue with this cycle until the story frames are approved by the social media team
  3. Move on to step 4

Step 4: Upload the Story to Sprinklr for Stakeholder Review

  1. Upload the full version of your Instagram story as an “unscheduled” Instagram post in Sprinklr using the proper naming conventions
  2. Instagram story to undergo the stakeholder reviews and approvals
  3. Move on to step 5

Step 5: Package up the Publishing Files & Deliver to Social Team*

*Do not include any native elements in these files such as Stickers, hashtags, etc.

For video Instagram Stories: Create one continuous video file of the entire Story, as well as individual video files for each frame.

For static Instagram Stories: Create individual image files for each frame.

Drop the files in both the Sprinklr Asset Manager and your assigned campaign folder. Send an email to the social media team to confirm the story is fully approved and the final files have been uploaded using the proper naming conventions.

Step 6: Story Publishing

  1. Send a calendar hold over to the social media team with the proposed publish date/time
  2. Add the publish request to the engaagement tracker and send a confirmation email to the social media team
  3. Social media team to issue the Instagram Story and notify everyone via email

Paid Story Publishing: Move forward with uploading your Instagram Story using the Facebook ads manager and run the ad flight. During this step, you should only select the “placement option” when setting up the ad

Step 7: Highlighting your Story

  1. Once your Instagram Story expires, send a request over to the social media team to highlight your Story via the engagement tracker
  2. Social media team to add your Story to the appropriate highlight section and confirm via email once it’s been completed
